In this video we learn what the major types of connective tissue are, and we will find out what collagen is.  Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body.

3)  SUPPLEMENTAL VIDEOS

Microscope video of a fibroblast cell moving through its collagen matrix.  The video is only 4 seconds long, so replay it several times.  The cell and the collagen are in bright colors which were added by the photographic process.  Real cells and collagen are colorless.

Medical researchers are using collagen from fish scales to make special collagen bandages to heal skin wounds.  (less than 1 minute)
